one night only!

Some of you may or may not know that I was able to be included in Portland's first ever ArtCrank. ArkCrank is an art show of bike themed artwork. Each artist displays one poster and you, the people, can buy a poster that is affordably priced, to take home with you. As an added plus... a proceed from the sale of each poster goes to Bikes to Rwanda. (What's Bikes to Rwanda you may ask? Well, it helps people in Rwanda get bikes.) As well, ArtCrank is the opening event for the second annual Oregon Manifest, a month long celebration of Portland's love affair with bikes. Needless to say, being held at the oh so cool Ace Hotel in the Pearl during First Thursday, with FREE PBR... and the crowd should be pretty rockin.

Expect it to look like this ArtCrank in St. Louis... but bigger and better (it's Portland ya'll!)

Anyways, after the event I'll probably do a whole review and show you photos from the show as well as the very quick design and printing process (it's actually not a quick process AT ALL, but I didn't have time to make it a long one nor the money to make it shorter, so... needless to say it was a little bit of a crunch.)

The show is tonight and here are some things you should know:

>It's at the ACE Hotel Cleaners (403 SW 10th Ave.).

> Doors open at 5:00, and stay that way until 11:00.

> The generous souls at Pabst will be handing out free PBR to those of age until it runs out. There will also be a cash bar, and people can order munchables from the most excellent Clyde Common eatery.

> Speaking of cash, poster purchases will be cash only. We do not have the means to take credit cards. There is an ATM in the lobby of the Ace Hotel, just around the corner from the gallery. But please encourage people to bring cash.

> For every poster sold, ARTCRANK will donate its commission of $5.00 to Bikes To Rwanda.

> IT"S ONE NIGHT ONLY!!!

> I've got a photo gig going on early with Chris Pureka and Dar Williams at the Aladdin tonight, but then I'll head over to the ACE around 9ish. Hope to see some of you there!

> If you buy my poster, not only are you feeding my racing habit... but you're also helping people in Africa get bikes. It's a win win!!! Plus, my print will look great framed on your bathroom, office, or childrens bedroom wall.

> It's just a hunch, but I think there are probably multitudes of posters at the show that feature animals on bikes. I think this is because the theme of "animals on bikes" explores a common unspoken wish for our society that all creatures, great and small, could experience the joy and happiness that one derives from riding their bike. Why should the sheer joy of self propelled two wheel transportation fall to just those of us who stand up right and have opposable thumbs?
> So, not only is my poster adorable but it makes more sense than other prints of animals on bikes. Why you ask? Well, it is commonly known in the bike racing world that the riders with the biggest hind quarters and the largest thighs are generally the sprinters. Well, what animal in the animal kingdom has some of the largest thighs, quick, nimble and prone to get run over? Squirrels!!!! Plus, they're cute, cheeky, and most likely like beer. And aside from the big bushy tail... they are commonly hunched over as well in the perfect areo position.

> As well, due to some printing mishaps... I had to change colors of my run and so now the poster features the colors on Bridgetown Velo!!! (orange and blue!!) However, if you get there late you may be able to pick up one of the blue and white prints - but, the blue and orange is better, so come early.

> And, in true Portland DIY fashion, I hand cut all my paper and printed all of my posters (with special thanks to Sarah G at Stump'd Design). Not everything is perfect and nor should it be.

> SHAMELESS SELF PLUG: More of my personal work can be seen here at this nifty online portfolio.
